Skyscraper comes to Apple TV, and to your Home Screen

Skyscraper 1.7 and 1.7.1 add a sixth platform, a full set of widgets, a Mac app that feels at home on a keyboard, and a long list of fixes that make the timeline hold still while you read.

Apple TV

Introducing Skyscraper for Apple TV

Nobody reads a timeline from the couch, so Skyscraper for Apple TV isn't the phone app blown up to fill the screen. It's an ambient window into your feed that you can leave running all evening. You can watch it closely or just glance at it now and then. Pick a feed, choose a mode, and it keeps pulling in new posts for as long as it's on.

Apple TV · Oscillate

One post at a time

A single post sits centered and readable while soft shapes drift behind it. Photos, videos, text posts, quote posts and link cards all get their turn, and it moves on by itself.

Apple TV · Media Wall

A wall of pictures

Your feed's photos and videos as a grid, four across. Captions appear on the tile you're focused on, and a click fills the screen.

Apple TV · Channel

Your feed, as a TV station

Videos play back to back with sound and no black gaps between clips. A small caption introduces each one, then fades away. As it plays, it keeps going further back through the feed for more.

Apple TV

Follow a hashtag or an account

Play your Following feed or any saved feed, or build a channel from one account or one hashtag. Recent picks stay one click away. Sign in with an app password; there's no typing a password with the arrow keys.

Apple TV

From the TV to your phone

Click any post to get a QR code. Scan it and the post opens in Skyscraper on your iPhone. Link posts get a second code for the article itself.

Widgets

Skyscraper on your Home Screen and Lock Screen

Timeline, Timeline Photo, Followers, Latest Followers, Recent Activity, Post Performance, Saved Posts, On This Day, Trending, Trending Topics, and Weekly and Monthly Recaps. Pick the ones you want and your Bluesky shows up without opening the app.

Mac

Made for the keyboard

Standard shortcuts, arrow keys to open and leave posts, a new Post menu, and ↑/↓ in Chats and Notifications. Paste or drag images and videos straight into the composer.

Mac

Every column, any account

Any column can read as any account you're signed in to. Put two accounts' feeds side by side; each one loads, scrolls and refreshes on its own, and likes, reposts and replies go out as that column's account. There's also an account switcher in the sidebar.

Publications

Find something good to read

Publications now has its own entry in Explore. Browse Following, Popular, Trending and Cam's Picks, search for publications, and see which writers you already follow on Bluesky. Articles open in the in-app browser.

Explore

A trending ticker

A scrolling ticker of the hashtags climbing on Bluesky right now, at the top of Explore.

Sharing

Alt text from the share sheet

Add alt text to images you share into Skyscraper, or have Apple Intelligence write it in your post's language.

Themes

Light and dark, per theme

A custom theme can carry separate palettes for light and dark mode, and both sync across your devices.

Timeline

The post you're reading stays put

New posts arriving at the top, rows merging in mid-list, switching feeds and coming back: the post you're reading stays where it is until you move it. Compact Media Thumbnails fit more on screen, and you can set them separately on iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Everywhere else

Watch, iPad, and six new languages

Apple Watch now does a better job of fetching posts, keeping you more up to date on the go. The iPad sidebar remembers that you hid it. Hashtags work in any script, so #日本語 now posts as a real tag. And Skyscraper now speaks Simplified Chinese, Polish, Hungarian and more, 14 languages in all.

Every screen you own

One app. Six platforms. No compromises borrowed from the others.

The Mac build isn't the iPhone app in a window, the iPad build isn't the iPhone app stretched, and the Apple TV app isn't a timeline you squint at from across the room. Each one gets the navigation its platform expects.

iPhone

The full client, tuned for one hand, with Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets for your timeline, followers, post performance, trending topics, recaps and On This Day.

Mac

Multi-column panels with saved layouts and width presets, where any column can read as any of your accounts. A real menu bar with a Post menu, standard keyboard shortcuts, vim motions, drag-in and drag-out media, a Settings window, a Dock menu and a Share Extension.

iPad

A proper split view with a sidebar you can hide and it stays hidden, feed like counts in the sidebar, post content laid out at the row's real width, and a floating feed selector that doesn't collide with your replies.

Apple TV

An ambient window into your feed in three modes: Oscillate for one post at a time, Media Wall for a grid of pictures, and Channel for videos back to back with sound. Play any feed, one account or one hashtag, and send a post to your phone with a QR code.

Apple Watch

Your feed, post detail, likes and reposts, plus a recent-post complication. It fetches fresh posts on its own, even when the iPhone app isn't open.

Vision Pro

A native visionOS build with its own text size and spatial layout, labelled buttons, and a composer that attaches photos reliably.
