Short answer: no, you cannot see who viewed your Bluesky profile. Bluesky does not track profile views, and the protocol it runs on has no such thing as a view record. Looking at a profile or a post writes nothing anyone else can see.
That cuts both ways: nobody can see that you looked at their profile either. This post covers why views are invisible, what people can see about you, why "who viewed your profile" apps are a bad idea, and what your post engagement numbers do and do not tell you.
The Direct Answer
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Can I see who viewed my profile? | No – Bluesky does not record profile views |
| Can someone see that I viewed theirs? | No – viewing writes nothing |
| Do posts show view counts? | No – only likes, reposts, replies and quotes |
| Is there a setting to turn it on? | No – the feature does not exist |
| Do "profile viewer" apps work? | No – there is no data for them to read |
| What can people see? | Your actions: likes, reposts, replies, follows, list adds and blocks |
Why Bluesky Has No Profile Views
Everything public on Bluesky is a record in someone's repository. A post is an app.bsky.feed.post record. A like is an app.bsky.feed.like. A follow is an app.bsky.graph.follow. These records are what other people, apps and tools can see.
Reading is different. When you open a profile, your app asks a server for data and displays it. You do not write anything to your repository, and nothing is written to theirs. There is no "view" record type in the protocol, so there is nothing for an app to count, list or show to the account owner.
This is a structural answer, not a policy one. Bluesky could not quietly turn on profile-view lists tomorrow without inventing a new kind of data and getting clients to send it. Our ATProtocol federation guide covers the record model in more depth.
An honest footnote about servers
"Nobody can see it" means no other user can see it. The servers your app talks to – your data server, the AppView, and any custom feed you load – handle your requests, the same way any website handles a page load. None of that is exposed to the person whose profile you opened. And if you tap a link in a post, the website at the other end sees the visit like any other web traffic.
What People Can See About You
Viewing is invisible. Doing things is not. These actions are public records that the other person, and anyone else, can find:
| Action | Record | Do they get notified? |
|---|---|---|
| Like | app.bsky.feed.like |
Yes |
| Repost | app.bsky.feed.repost |
Yes |
| Reply or quote | app.bsky.feed.post |
Yes |
| Follow | app.bsky.graph.follow |
Yes |
| Add to a list | app.bsky.graph.listitem |
No, but it's discoverable |
| Block | app.bsky.graph.block |
No, but it's discoverable |
| Mute | Private preference, not a public record | No, and it's not discoverable |
| View a profile or post | Nothing | No |
The most common way people "get caught" looking is an accidental like while scrolling someone's old posts. That is a real notification. See are Bluesky likes public? for what unliking does and does not undo.
Apps That Claim to Show Who Viewed Your Profile
They cannot do what they say. The data does not exist, so any app or website offering a list of your profile visitors is doing one of three things:
- Relabeling public activity. Showing recent likers, followers or repliers and calling them "viewers."
- Making it up. A plausible-looking list with no basis.
- Collecting your login. The worst case, and the reason to care.
Treat any tool that asks for your Bluesky password with suspicion. If you do want to try a third-party tool for something legitimate, use one that signs in through Bluesky's own login flow, or give it an app password created in your Bluesky settings. App passwords can be revoked one at a time, and they are kept away from your most sensitive account settings. Never type your main password into a third-party site.
If you already gave a "profile viewer" app your main password, change it, then review your app passwords and revoke anything you do not recognize.
What Your Post Numbers Do and Don't Show
Bluesky posts show four engagement counts: likes, reposts, replies and quotes. Each one is a count of public records that point at the post.
What they do not show:
- Impressions or views. There is no public count of how many people saw a post.
- Who scrolled past. Silent readers are invisible, and most readers are silent.
- Profile clicks. No count of how many people opened your profile from a post.
So a post with three likes may have been read by far more people than that. You just cannot measure it from inside Bluesky. If reach matters to you, track the things you can measure over time – engagement per post, follower growth, which kinds of posts get replies – rather than guessing at views. Our best time to post guide is a better lever than a viewer list would be.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you see who viewed your Bluesky profile?
No. Bluesky has no profile-view tracking, and the AT Protocol has no record type for views. Looking at a profile or a post writes nothing that the account owner, or anyone else, can see.
Does Bluesky notify someone when you look at their profile?
No. There is no notification for profile visits or post views. People are only notified about actions such as likes, reposts, replies, quotes, mentions and follows.
Are apps that show who viewed your Bluesky profile real?
No. The data does not exist on Bluesky, so no app can show it. Anything claiming to is guessing, relabeling public activity like likes and follows, or after your login. Never give your main password to one.
Does Bluesky show view counts on posts?
No. Bluesky posts show likes, reposts, replies and quotes. There is no public impression or view count, so you cannot tell how many people saw a post who did not interact with it.
Can someone tell if I looked at their posts on Bluesky?
Not from viewing alone. They can only see what you do: if you like, repost, reply, quote, follow, add them to a list or block them, that action is a public record.
